Burning Man 2001

 photos from Black Rock City

Here I am at the Man.
I didn't spend a whole lot of my time taking photos.
I had other things to do.
but I did manage to capture a dozen images for your edification.

The next photo is of the Mausoeum, the last of the Seven Ages of Man.
a wonderful work of art, which was burned sunday night.
all week long people wrote the names of loved ones who had passed on pieces of wood, which were placed on one of the three altars to be burnt and released.
That is Playa dust Kicking up in the wind.

Perhaps you're thinking Mad Max at the Thunder Dome.
This was one of the many art cars.
Although some one had erected a Thunder Dome and it was in operation.

Hopefully these images convey a feeling of the Playa's vastness and desolation.
Also,  don't forget that for one week
Black Rock city is the 5th largest city in nevada, then it's gone.

this fellow here had been a naughty boy.
he was on the Esplanade,  next to the Automatic Ass Spanking Machine.

Another of the Senen Ages of Man was represented by the Love Temple.

the Playa at Dusk.
there was a full moon on the night the Man was burned.
You can see the Emerald City in the background.

Two photos of some fire dancers, just before the Burning of the Man

fireworks exploded beneath the Man causing him to burst into flames
